Facebook Freebies – Holiday Designs

Recently I came across this wonderful new design group on Facebook Two Pear Designs . What I loved the most was how giving they are and they also got me thinking about Holiday Mini Sessions. They have a FREE marketing set — great to use for fall or holiday mini sessions.

I used their kit to make the example above. I love the colors they are so very much the hip colors this fall! — You can download the font used here: http://www.fontspace.com/kimberly-geswein/janda-snickerdoodle-serif Then customize the text to be what you want it to!

I also love the calender by My Lil’Creations – Tina Parker shares a paper pack. If you are not a fan of her work, you soon will be. She creates templates and elements that are amazing and timeless.

I know we have taken a bit of a break — after all life can sometimes get the best of us. However, after our hiatus we are now back to blogging. Today I wanted to share a great site for Lightroom Presets. In the Beyond forum lately there has been tons of discussion about creating faster and better work flows. The one thing that seems to come up each time is that using Lightroom speeds up the editing process. To aide in that everyone is using presets. One of the presets that everyone seems to like for clean basic processing is pretty presets, and today I found that you can test drive a few of her presets over at Presets Heaven, which is fantastic resource for FREE presents! In addition to those she shared there, she has other freebies on her website, so it’s worth heading over and checking out what she has! note: I was not offered any actions for this review except for those found on the web for free.

Here are some images I tried with the presets. I found them very easy to tweak, though the one drawback I have with lightroom is you can not make adjustments and then add a preset on top of them, you revert to the presets settings… if anyone knows how to stack them please let me know!

Cool — How new tool for website updating

I am always looking for new ways to do things, like blog posts or update my website. The problem is with blog changes, say I have to go between the a tab that has the backend open and one that has how it looks.

Now I can have both open at the same time — I love it!

This is due to a new tool called Fox Splitter. This allows you to have to tabs open sideby side in one panel, great for working on blogs, websites that have an on line editor or if you just want to compare to things side by side.

It does require that you have the latest version of Firefox, but that is it!

Motivation Monday: A freebie

Today is a Monday and for many of us this is also the first week of school for our children (or last week was or next week will be).
The motivation for me is the create a small book and share it with the Grandparents about my son’s first day of school. The inspiration for this was found on Sarah Gourdie’s website. Sarah is an extremely talented designer and her books are simply amazing, she has a girl version and a boy version and they are just too cute not to use! The best part is she links to where you can get them for FREE. The PIF blog.

Her work always inspires me to create lasting memories and create books and more if not for my clients for my own children. I am hoping that her books will continue to capture share and hold dear the small moments in life.

Freebie Friday: Beyond Just Images Photographer Resources

It is Freebie Friday.

For today I am going to give you some links to some great FREE or nearly FREE resources for Lightroom and Photoshop. I am constantly amazed at the number of things that are available for FREE, which helps me learn at my own pace and keep my money for the fun things like a Lens Baby, or a Wacom tablet (should I ever get the extra $$ for them!).

There are many more so if you have some to share please email me or leave them in a comment below!

Lightroom Presets: This site has hundreds of Lightroom presets some of which go from basic changes to some that take things to the extreme, but all of which are free and fun! I love that it’s like getting a new toy every few days. There are also free tutorials for Lightroom.

D-Town: While this site does focus on using Nikon equipment they often share tips and tricks that will help any photographer. I love that it’s like my own private tutorial each week and they have an IN-DEPTH series on Nikon Lens which was fascinating to watch, and has changed my wish list a bit!

x-equals.com I am not sure how to categorize this site. I have learned tons from their snippets and they always educate and provide the why of what you do. They also have some amazing Lightroom presets as well. The information is free and it’s a well written blog so that makes this one of my “must” go spots for Lightroom information.

Scott Kelby Training : Photoshop, Cameras, Lightroom Tutorials. To get the full tutorials you need to purchase access to his site, but you can view the first three lessons on ALL the videos before you purchase. There is a wealth of information there and you can also determine before you buy if you will benefit from this.
