What Inspires you? Honesty and authenticity.  Nothing inspires me more than when someone lets down their guard and allows me to see their true personality.

What suggestions do you have for those starting out? Develop and own your own style.  Don’t feel like you have to master trends and techniques that don’t come naturally to you.

What is your must have piece of equipment and why? My iphone.  It keeps me sane.

How do you connect with your Seniors to get your stunning imagery? I listen to them.  :)

about_jamie

What do you think sets you apart from other photographers………or what do you work on to make sure you have your own style and presence??? I’m constantly striving to provide my clients with a unique experience unlike anything they could get elsewhere.

How do you find a balance between a successful business and home/family, without one taking over the other? My family always takes priority over business.  Establishing firm boundaries between work and family time is essential for success in both arenas.

kittens, nature, babies, or buildings? Hmmm..all of the above.  Ecclectic is the name of the game for me.  HA!

What was your “ah-ha” moment? When I realized that people were trusting me to preserve their history.

What made you take that journey from being someone who took photos to being a photographer?   When my family life was being overtaken by my hobby I decided it was time to put  up some boundaries and turn my hobby into a business.  This allowed me to establish clear lines between “work time” and “family time”.  Don’t get me wrong…I still take plenty of photos just for fun! :)
What’s your favourite blog/flickr stream/place to go for fun? I get lost on The Pioneer Woman’s blog at least once a week.  She inspires a lot of the meals I make at home and makes me laugh at the same time.
When you are laying in bed brainstorming about your business, what aspect of your business do you think about most often? Time management!

Do you do anything special for your clients to show them that you appreciate their business? Absolutely! From exquisite packaging to a unique gift chosen especially for them, my clients are made to feel like they are invaluable…because they are!

Just for fun, what phrase or phrases do you find yourself using all the time with your clients when you are photographing them? If I had to pick one, I guess it would have to be “oops”!  I’m such a clutz…especially with a camera in front of my face.

This can be photography related or not… but what do you want to be remembered for? In the photog community – with your clients – amongst your friends… any or all. That’s easy. A loving wife and Mom.

What ‘boundaries’ have you had to learn to set as you have continued to grow in this profession? I extend myself only as far as I want to be extended. I set the number of sessions I take, the rates that I charge, and the schedule that I keep in accordance with what I will be happy with.
